Youth Summer Camp

At Y’all Rock Camp, music is just the beginning.

During the week, campers explore guitar, bass, keyboards, or drums while taking part in hands-on workshops that encourage creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Along the way, they form bands, collaborate with their peers, and prepare for an exciting final-day showcase concert!

But what truly sets our camp apart is our community. We celebrate every camper’s unique voice, foster teamwork, and create a space where everyone feels seen, supported, and empowered.

Planning for Camp – What to Expect

DSC_3440.JPG
  • How to Register:

    1. Apply: Parents/Guardians (our “Camper Sponsors”) submit a camper application.

    2. Confirm & Pay: We confirm the application and send tuition information based on your self-reported, pay-what-you-can amount.

    3. Instrument Assignment: In the weeks before camp, we assign instruments to ensure every camper is ready to jam.

    4. Check-In: On the first day, campers receive their credentials and instrument manual, while parents/sponsors get “Roadie” car tags for easy pickup throughout the week.

    5. Let the Music Begin: With everyone set, camp kicks off!

  • Tuition is on a self-reporting sliding scale up to $500.

Every camper’s Y’all Rock Camp ATL tuition is subsidized, even at the top of the scale. If you are able to pay more than $500 it will help to provide Y’all Rock Camp ATL opportunities for campers in need.

What Tuition Covers: Tuition includes five full days of camp plus showcase hours, all instrument lessons, workshops, workshop supplies, and afternoon snacks while at camp; a live performance by a visiting band each day of camp, camp t-shirt, camper backstage pass, and an instrument loan (if needed).

  • Bring your own instrument if you have one – but no worries if you don’t, we provide loaner instruments free of charge.

If your camper has their own guitar, bass, or drumsticks, PLEASE BRING THEM. Keyboards and drumsets are provided.

Our gear crew will label and track the check-in and check-out of all instruments – borrowed or owned. Please feel free to label your camper’s personal gear on your own!

Please note that Y’all Rock Camp ATL does not accept liability for personal instruments.

  • At the start of camp, we use a fun game, campers are randomly assigned to bands based on their instrument and age.

This means everyone gets a chance to meet new friends, try new roles, and collaborate in a supportive, creative environment. By the end of the week, each band has made lifelong memories, new friends, and are ready to rock the showcase!

  • Campers can choose to study guitar, bass, drums, or keyboards. Please select two instruments – a first and second choice – on the registration form.

Flexibility is a big part of the collaborative experience of Rock Camp: We do our best to accommodate campers’ choices, but instrument assignments are dependent on class size, ability to acquire needed gear, and even distribution of instruments throughout the camp. But don’t worry! Campers will still have a fun and rewarding experience, no matter what instrument they are assigned!

Due to the need to acquire and assign gear in advance, a camper may not change instrument preferences once their registration form has been submitted or during the camp session.

  • Y’all Rock Camp ATL does not provide lunch for campers.

Each camper needs to bring their lunch each day. However, if your camper needs free lunch at camp, please let us know and we will make arrangements for lunch to be provided.

  • The week wraps up with a bang! Campers take the stage to perform everything they’ve learned, showing off their skills, creativity, and teamwork for their proud supporters and fellow campers.

The showcase is also one of our biggest fundraisers of the year – our silent auction – where community members, families, and friends can support YRCATL while celebrating the incredible music and community our campers have built. It’s a joyful, high-energy celebration you won’t want to miss!

OUR VOLUNTEERS

Y’all Rock Camp is powered by an incredible team of talented musicians, artists, educators, creative mentors, wellness practitioners, and awesome humans from across Metro-Atlanta, the state, and the region.

Every volunteer is carefully selected to create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where campers can explore, create, and shine. These volunteers (many of whom are former youth campers) bring their talent, energy, and passion to pour into our campers, modeling the kindness, respect, and collaboration we value in our community.

A Note on Our Name Change

If you’re new to our organization, or if it’s been a while: In 2022, we underwent the process of changing our name and mission statement to better reflect the inclusive community that we have cultivated over the past nearly 20 years. After a series of community feedback sessions, we transitioned fully to Y’all Rock Camp ATL in 2023 and explicitly state or commitment to welcoming and creating safe spaces for trans and nonbinary youth and adult volunteers at and beyond camp.

Our Commitment to Radical Inclusion

Y’all Rock Camp ATL – in alignment with the Girls Rock Camp Alliance – values diversity in all its forms, including age, race, economic status, gender expression, size, physical and developmental ability, musical interests, learning styles, nationality, religion, citizenship status, and sexual orientation.

We promote respect, celebrate differences, and do not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other form of discrimination.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability, or gender identity/expression in any aspect of our programs—including admissions, financial aid, volunteer opportunities, employment, or other camp-related activities.

What This Means for Our Community:

For us, everyone is welcome. Everyone is heard. Everyone belongs. This is radical inclusivity in action. If you ever see a member of our community falling short, speak up. We’ll listen, reflect, and make it right.

Y’all Rock.
